Admission to exhibitions and museums is free of charge. Can you find a familiar cup from the International Coffee Cup Museum? Spectacular sculptures decorate the grounds. June 2009 will see the opening of Pentik Galleria, providing exciting ceramics exhibitions.
Pentik Mäki has grown up beside the world’s northern most ceramics factory. The internationally renowned company was founded in 1971 by Anu Pentik and Topi Pentikäinen. In addition to Finland, the company has shops in Sweden and Norway.
Ceramics have become well founded as part of Posio’s image. Indeed, education in ceramics is provided in art lessons at school and in business education. Posio High School specialises in ceramics, and each year the work produced by its students are collected for an exhibition at Pentik Mäki. The public buildings in Posio have ceramic items made in ceramic events, such as the Papin Lammas (Priest’s Sheep) on the church wall. The library of this ceramics municipality also gathers a collection of pottery and ceramics materials.
