Akanlahti log dispatching facility

Along the Lohiranta local road, at around 8 kilometres from the Lohiranta village and the municipal Ethnographic Museum is a rare sight, the Akanlahti log dispatching facility.
The facility was used to dispatch timber from Lake Kitkajärvi to Lake Livojärvi from the 1930s to the 1960s.
The facility still has a log chute running a distance of 2 kilometres and the dispatch building located on the shores of the Kitkajärvi Lake.
The timber in the building and the log floating water was extracted from the lake and sent down the chute.
Visitors interested in history can find remains of two earlier log dispatching facilities in the area.
