Wilderness Farmer's Paths

In 2007, the unique tourist trail, Erätalonpojan Keinot, was opened in Posio. The trail comprises 35 roadside information boards that tell of the skills, living conditions and thoughts of the peasantry culture inhabitants of Posio in the early twentieth century. Erätalonpojan Keinot is a tribute to the extremely perseverant ancestors that kept cattle, cared for reindeer, hunted, fished, learned to sell timber from the forests as well as log floating.
Information boards can be found in every village in the Posio Municipality. Each information board has descriptions and illustrations showing a variety of old forms of living. Information board themes include folk medicine, reindeer husbandry, oral folklore and wilderness skills. The map section of the information board shows what services the rural enterprises in the region provide.
Choose the route that most appeals and follow the trail! Admire the Posio landscapes at the same time and discover a connection with the local inhabitants.
