Snowmobiling
If you want to experience the thrill of speed in a beautiful snowy landscapes of Posio then snowmobiling is for you! There are about 200 kilometres of snowmobiling routes in the Posio area. There are snowmobiling routes departing in every direction from the town centre of Posio. If you want, you can drive to Ruka, Suomu, Rovaniemi, Ranua or Syöte, and continue even further, anywhere in Lapland!
Don't worry if you don't have your own snowmobile or any previous experience about driving a snowmobile, because in Posio you can rent a snowmobile or take part in a snowmobiling safari!
Stella Polaris Lapland rents snowmobiles if you have previous experience of driving and organises snowmobile safaris of different lenghts in Posio. Trained professional guides make sure that you have the right equipment and teaches you all you need to know about snowmobiling. The guides also make sure that your snowmobile safari is safe, fun and unforgettable!
If you have previous experience about driving a snowmobile, you can explore the beautiful nature of Posio independently with a snowmobile. You can find all the snowmobile routes in the Posio tourist map where they are marked with a red dashed line. All the snowmobiling routes can also be found in the Internet at
www.excursionmap.fi by selecting Posio and by ticking on "Routes" under the “Map layers” section on the left and then selecting only "Snowmobile routes and tracks". Please note that it is strictly forbidden to drive snowmobiles in any other places than in the marked trails.
The maintenance of the snowmobiling routes is handled by the Snowmobile Pool and the Posio Travel Association. The routes are levelled when ever it is needed and also the lake areas are well marked to prevent the snowmobiling tourists from getting lost. The Snowmobile Pool wants to provide good opportunities for snowmobiling and wishes a pleasant and safe journey!
