During the magical winter of Posio you can enjoy all kinds of activities related to snow, including downhill skiing!
The Kiri slopes provide the thrill of speed for downhill skiers and snowboraders. The downhill skiing centre in Kirintövaara is situated only 7 kilometres from the town centre of Posio and it provides opportunities for meaningful experiences in family-friendly slopes.
There are three slopes in Kirintövaara, two of which are lit. The longest slope run covers approximately 900 metres with a height difference of 110 metres. The profile of the slopes is suitable for children, but even more skilled skier can also find challenges in the Kiri slopes.
There is one ski lift in the Kiritövaara downhill skiing centre, but in the winter of 2012 there will be opened a "magic carpet" lift for children. Next winter there will also be opened a new "skiing wonderland". If you don't like to go down the hill with skis, you can enjoy the thrill of speed on the sledging hill.
Before, after or during the downhill skiing you can enjoy a cup of hot chocolate or coffee in the cafeteria or enjoy your own packed lunch. There are lean-to shelters and campfire spots near the downhill skiing centre.
Wilderness Hotel Kirikeskus is situated just next to the skiing slopes and there are also many possibilities for
cabin accommodation near the downhill skiing centre in Kirintövaara.
