Hunting
If you want to experience the thrill and excitement of a hunting trip, Posio is the place for you! There are about 110,000 hectares of state-owned lands in Posio. Another large hunting region is the Posio Collective Forest that covers 20,000 hectares of huntig lands. The game is waiting in the forests, just go and have a try at a hunting trip!
The changing terrain and diverse game populations of Posio assure that each hunter is getting their desired catch. The catch available in Posio includes the capercaillie, black grouse, hazel-grouse, willow grouse, hare, water fowl, beaver, fox, pine marten, mink, elk and bear. But remember that the catch is not the most important thing, the hunting experience, exercise and nature watching is quite an amazing catch in itself.
Please note that you always need permsissions for hunting in Posio and other places in Finland. There are different permits for different game and naturally you also need to have a legal permission for your hunting weapon too. You can get more infromation about the hunting permits from

Posio Collective Forest also sells the hunting permits for the lands that it owns.
Please be advised that it is forbidden to hunt in the Riisitunturi and Syöte national parks. Please also avoid hunting during periods of no snow cover in the areas close to the Korouoma hiking trails. Posio belongs to a reindeer husbandry district, so hunters have to make sure the hunting dogs do not harm the reindeer economy.
