Winter activities
The magical winter of Posio starts when the first snow falls, usually in november or december.
Posio is a
highland area, which means a long period of snow cover for skiing and other winter activities. You can enjoy the beautiful winter with your family and friends by trying different kinds of activities.
In the winter there are great possibilities for
cross-country skiing in Posio, as there are altogether 70 kilometres of skiing tracks around the area. For those who prefer going up and down to the slopes by
down-hill skiing there is also a
skiing resort near the town centre of Posio. The slopes are good for beginners but even more experieced alpinist can enjoy the snowy slopes.
There are also other fun activities related to snow: You could enjoy the nature and the thrill of speed by
snowmobile or
husky safaris, or take more relaxing ride with a reindeer safari. You can also go exploring the nature with
horses, and you don't even need to have any experience of riding. The more extreme activity is
ice-climbing in the spectacular frozen waterfalls in
Korouoma.
